This extranet is designed specifically
for those who work in the Somerset Health & Social Care
community. It is called an extranet as it is a password-protected
area for the publication of project material outside of the NHSnet,
yet it is not accessible to the general public.
The website is used to publish information, such as documents,
meeting minutes and other material and also to provide discussion
boards for the health and social care community. It serves as
a central storage point, which will avoid locally stored copies
of files and will save the time involved with sending large
numbers of emails with attached files, ensuring that information
can be shared and distributed in an instant.
