We have attached to Redgate Medical Centre the following Practice Ancillary Medics (PAMS).
Barbara Holcombe is our resident Physiotherapist. Barbara has been a qualified physiotherapist for 18 years and works here at the practice and Bridgwater Community Hospital.
What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is all about using exercise, manual techniques, electrotherapy and movement to help treat a range of conditions. Physiotherapy can be used on spinal and joint related problems, that have occurred following an accident, sport injury or related to your general health.
Where and when will the Physiotherapy clinic be held?
We hope to treat you in-house, at the surgery. Once the doctor's referral form has been received by the physiotherapist she will assess your needs and the best place to treat you. This means that you could be offered an appointment with Barbara at the surgery or at Bridgwater Community Hospital, your appointment letter will state this.
The physiotherapy clinics are held at the surgery on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, from 8.30 am until 11.30 am.
How long will the appointment last?
Your first appointment will last approximately 40 minutes. This will enable the physiotherapist to complete a full physical assessment and discuss your treatment options. Thereafter, the appointments will take approximately 20 minutes.
How long will I wait to see the Physiotherapist?
The doctor will advise you of the waiting time when they discuss with you this course of treatment.
How do I get an appointment with the Physiotherapist?
To get an appointment with our Physiotherpiast you must be referred by one of the doctors at the surgery.
Isobel Huggins is our Mental Health Link Worker. Isobel is a qualified Art Therapist, Family Therapist and Systematic Practitioner. She works here at the practice and for Somerset Partnership Trust, in Bridgwater's Community Mental Health Team for 14 years.
What is a Link Worker?
The Link Working service has been set up to offer you the opportunity to have your difficulties assessed by a specialist mental health worker here at the surgery.
Initially you will be offered a one-off consulation to find out what are your needs. Should you need continuing help or treatment this we can arrange and Isobel will advise you of the most appropriate service. This could be continuing appointments with Isobel, or it may involve directing you to alternative resources.
